Trane, a premium whitegoods brand from Ingersoll Rand that offers a range of air-conditioners, plans to sell 1 lakh units in India by 2017 and eyes a market share of 10 per cent by then in the premium segment, a senior company official said here today.
"We have already witnessed tremendous sales since our entry a year ago here. Hence, we are quite hopeful of achieving a sales target of 1,00,000 units here by the year 2017 by when we aim at 10 percent market share in the premium segment," Ingersoll Rand International India's Director-Sales (Residential Solutions) Shankar Subramanian said.
However, he did not share the actual number of units sold here so far, saying that it is "too low".
As of now, 32,00,000 air-conditioning are being sold in the country per annum, out of which 7,00,000 lakh units are premium models. Hence, the company is quite hopeful of achieving the target, he said.
Moreover, the market, is growing at an annual rate of 15-17 per cent, hence the company is set to achieve the target, Subramanian claimed.
India is the first market in which Ingersoll Rand has launched the Trane brand and going forward it plans to compete with Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Daikin and others.
Currently, its products are available in 14 models, falling in the price range between Rs 36,500 and Rs 1.2 lakh.
"Currently, we are present in 75 cities through 125 channel partners. However, we plan to make our products available in 125 cities by 2017," he said.
