Giving the assurance to a delegation of environment activists led by MLA Rajendra Bhandari, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said conserving the environment has been a tradition in the state and protecting forests an integral part of public life.
Describing trees and rivers as integral to the life of people in the state, he spoke of a bonus scheme launched by his government for promoting tree plantation and developing water reservoirs.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the CM on behalf of an organisation named after Gaura Devi for launching 'Mera Ped Mera Dhan' scheme to incentivise and promote tree plantation and starting a bonus scheme for developing small reservoirs.
