"There is no factionalism in the party, neither the new UPCC president Nirmal Khatri nor I belong to any group and the whole party as a unit would fight the 2014 elections together to achieve the goal," Mathur told newspersons here.
"It could have been the case earlier but the newly appointed UPCC president, Khatri, does not belong to any group and has a clean image," Mathur said.
Mathur said that Khatri would arrive in the state capital on September 11 and take the charge as the state president and hold a direct dialogue with the Congress workers.
On the performance of the state government, he said as six months time had been sought by the SP leadership he would not speak much on the issue, though the "law and order situation of the state was not good."
"We would seek a reply from the government in the next Vidhan Sabha session", he said.
To a question, Mathur lashed out at the BJP for demanding Prime Minister's resignation on the coal block issue and accused it of misleading the people.
