UP police to start toll-free number for tackling harassment

"Through this toll free number, the victims will be able to lodge their complaints and their identity will be kept secret," IG, Law and Order B P Singh said.

Tracing the phone number, the conversation would be recorded and if required it (recording) would later be used as evidence in the court, Singh said .

After issuing warnings, police on their own would lodge case against the accused persons in case they do not show any sign of mending their behaviour, Singh added.
