The Fertiliser Ministry today said the fund allocation for urea subsidy during the current year was 'not sufficient'.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the budgetary allocation under urea subsidy for the current year was Rs 54,400.01 crore and the Ministry utilised Rs 51,878 crore at the end of February 2015.
"The Budget allocation for urea during the current financial year is not sufficient. The carry over liabilities for the last financial year 2013-14 is worth Rs 17,834.44 crore have been paid out of the current year allocation of budget," Ahir said.
Carryover liabilities of the current year will be met from the budgetary allocation for the year 2015-16.

In fertiliser subsidy, the government allocated Rs 38,200 crore for domestic urea and Rs 12,300 crore for imported urea.
The remaining Rs 22,468.56 crore had been earmarked for sale of decontrolled P&K fertilisers.
