The 78-year-old Gaon Bura (village head) was burnt alive yesterday in the fire, the cause of which was yet to be ascertained.
The body was charred beyond recognition in the fire that destroyed all his household items.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner R K Mishra announced Rs 2,000 as immediate relief.
He said police investigation was on to find out the cause of the incident.
