The matter was recently brought to the attention of the Aviation Ministry by Guru Nair, a Congress activist from Maharashtra.
Nair, in his complaint, said he had noticed the graffiti during a recent visit here.
Thiruvananthapuram Airport Director N V Chandran told PTI that "administrative action as per government rule" has been taken against the staff of house-keeping, terminal management and civil engineering departments.
Admitting to a minor delay in removing the graffiti, he said, "all the concerned workers have been sensitised on the matter to avoid such things happening in future."
He claimed Thiruvananthapuram airport is one of the best run in the country and known for its cleanliness.
"The particular issue had been blown out of proportion with ulterior motives," Chandran said.
In his complaint, Guru Nair said there were some very objectionable and vulgar graffiti scribbled on the walls of gents' rest-room against some top women political leaders of the country.
He also alleged that the airport authorities had not given much attention to his complaint when he brought the issue to their notice.
