A police team successfully rescued the boy within 90 minutes of the incident and arrested the alleged kidnapper, identified as Mohit (21), a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, from Old Delhi Railway Station when he was trying to flee with the victim.
The incident came to light yesterday at 10:40 PM when the victim's father reported to police that his four-year-old son had been kidnapped by an unknown person.
"He had received a call for ransom demanding Rs 60,000 on his mobile number for releasing his son. We registered a case and the location of the kidnapper was traced and a team rushed to the Old Delhi Railway Station along with complainant Santosh Kumar," DCP (North-West) N Gnana Sambandan said.
During search at platform no. 10 at the instance of complainant, the team traced the child with the accused person. The team then apprehended the accused and rescued the kidnapped child safely.
During interrogation, it came to fore that the accused Mohit had worked as waiter with the complainant. He was in the need of money. Therefore, he had kidnapped the child for earning quick money, he added.
