The campaign, being organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), will focus on tackling water scarcity in the most vulnerable and rain-fed areas of the state, an official release said.
The initiative aims at creating awareness about judicious utilisation and management of water, using available technologies to enhance productivity per unit of water use, rainwater harvesting and improved water conservation, it said.
The release said the campaign will lay emphasis on recycling of wastewater and adoption of a range of proven technologies such as micro-irrigation (more crop per drop), farm ponds, trenches and check dams.
As many as 200 teams with two persons each, are being trained by Master Trainers from the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Ahmedabad, under the campaign.
Loan proposals from interested farmers would also be taken up by officials, the release said.
JalDhoots, with the support of banks and Panchayati Raj Institutions, would organise one-day village training session to create awareness on the importance of water and availability of various low-cost technologies for conservation, preservation and efficient utilisation, it said.
