Woman Maoist leader surrenders in Odisha

Parbati Majhi (27), a deputy commander of Paplur Naxal Dalam, surrendered before Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh.

She was active in the Maoist organisation for the last seven years and was working for strengthening the women's wing, the SP said.

The woman ultra was also involved in attacking and torching vehicles of a private steel company at Chitrakonda and several other incidents of violence.

Majhi, who stayed away from Maoist activities for quite sometime due to health problem, would be rehabilitated as per state government policy, Singh said.
