Yechuri and Karat to attend state committee meeting in Tripura

CPI-M general secretary, Sitaram Yechuri and Politburo member, Prakash Karat would be present during the party's two-day state committee meeting in Tripura beginning from May 20, party sources said.
"This is an important meeting where the state situation and poll strategies would be discussed," state secretary Bijan Dhar told PTI.
"The leaders would also table a report on the decisions of the party's central committee," he said.
The elections for the 60-member Tripura Assembly is scheduled for February next year.
The CPI-M's state committee meeting would be significant because BJP national president Amit Shah during his visit to the state recently had publicly announced that the BJP would come to power by ousting the CPI-M from the state.
