Chemical group Akzo Nobel said on Monday trials involving the antidepressant Remeron, made by its Organon unit, showed it to be more effective than Prozac. The statement followed the first double-blind trial of the drug involving 120 patients in the Netherlands, UK and Belgium. The results were presented at a European College of Neuropsychopharmacology congress in Amsterdam by Professor Stuart Montgomery from St Mary's Hospital in London.
