The company announced at a press preview that it would start selling the three-door Logo on Friday.

Reuter, and launch the five-door version on November 1, and aim for a total monthly sales target of 6,000 units.

The Logo is competitively priced against other Japanese makers' compact cars, Michiyoshi Hagino, a Honda managing director, told Reuters.

Other makers' cars of a similar class with similar equipment are priced at around 1.05 to 1.06 million yen, but the domestic selling price of Logo will range from 770,000 to 1.088 million yen, he said.

This car is in the 1.0- to 1.3-litre class. This market now stands at about 300,000 units per year and is expected to expand because of an increase in the number of elderly and female drivers, said Riku Iwai, a Honda managing director.

Honda has no plans to export the Logo model, Iwai said.
