IMF managing director Michel Camdessus said on Wednesday Indonesia must accelerate long overdue economic reforms to pull the nation out of a financial debacle that has rebounded around the world. The immediate priority (of my visit) is to arrest and turn around the tremendous loss of confidence, and stabilise the market through monetary discipline and a dramatic accelaration of long overdue structural reforms," Camdessus told reporters in Singapore shortly before leaving for Jakarta.
