Lcc Chief Lakhotia Dies In Mishap

Suresh Lakhotia, 44, chairman & managing director of LCC Infotech Ltd , died yesterday in a car accident in the outskirts of Calcutta while returning from Darjeeling.

Lakhotia, a tax consultant and expert, was scheduled to attend the opening of a high-tech centre in South Calcutta yesterday. After major rescheduling of flights in North Bengal yesterday, Lakhotia decided to reach the city on time for the opening of the new centre.

Suresh Lakhotia was the man behind transforming Lakhotia Computer Center into the third largest private software & IT training company in the country with a turnover of Rs 69 crore and a countrywide network of 650 centres. Lakhotia Infotech is currently the largest IT-based company from the eastern region in terms of turnover.

The company was officially renamed Lakhotia Infotech Ltd from April, 1999, but had come into being in July 1998 when Suresh Lakhotia acquired Arihant Housing & Finance Ltd and renamed it Lakhotia Infotech Ltd. Suresh Lakhotia had little over 50 per cent stake in the company.
