Satyam, Itc Lead Rally
ITC Ltd, Satyam Computers, DSQ Software and Rolta India Ltd closed with good gains on the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday, while Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) and cement scrips remained at their previous levels.
The turnover touched Rs 2,933 crore and the CSE-40 index closed 27.08 points higher at 2561.02 points against its previous close of 2533.94 points. The index fluctuated between 2577.55 points and 2543.44 points in intra-day trading.
ITC Ltd opened at Rs 980, touched Rs 1,039 on the higher side and Rs 980 on the lower side before closing at Rs 1,019. Satyam Computers closed at Rs 4,322.70 (open Rs 4,020), DSQ Software finished at Rs 1,730.30 (open at Rs 1,610, Pentafour Software ended at Rs 1,825.60 (open at Rs 1809) and Rolta India closed at Rs 774.50 (open at Rs 735). The other prominent gainers were, Great Eastern Shipping (Rs 19.40 close), Arvind Mills (Rs 19.60)and Sterlite (Rs 890.80).
Silverline Industries and Satyam were the most actively traded stocks yesterday. HLL closed at Rs 2,281.90. Cement counters ACC, Gujarat Ambuja Cements and L&T closed at Rs 183.10, Rs 295 and Rs 428.70, respectively.
