Speculatives failed to maintain initial gains on the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday on emergence of profit selling by bull operators coupled with bear offering . It closed with losses spread over a wide front. Marketmen said domestic financial institutions buying at the outset, picked up share prices till mid-session. However, sizeable selling by bull operators wiped off the initial gains.
The DSE sensitive index fell to 735.59, a loss of 2.41 points mainly due to drop in HLL and ITC shares. However, MTNL saw brisk buying and selling, ending 7.50 higher at Rs 234. ACC finished at Rs 1,231, ITC at Rs 616, and Tisco at Rs 121.40, Tata Tea at Rs 414.60, Telco at Rs 236.80, RIL at Rs 149.90, SBI at Rs 239, HLL at Rs 1,527, Bata at Rs 144 and BSES at Rs 180.50.
LML gained Rs 1.90 at Rs 108.35 and Bajaj Auto fetched Rs 2.90 at Rs 523.90. HLL declined by Rs 7.25 at Rs 1,525.75. ITC wound up at Rs 614, a loss of Rs 5.60. On the lower side were L&T, ACC, SBI, Nestle India, BSES, Telco, Hero Honda and Arvind Mills.
