Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Bimal Jalan has deputed a high-level team to Andhra Pradesh in response to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidus letter to the Prime Minister regarding immediate credit requirement of farmers planting commercial crops like tobacco and cotton, that had been affected by pests.

In a fax message to the state yesterday, the Prime Ministers secretary said the team, comprising the RBI deputy governor, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development chairman and others, would discuss with the Chief Minister and senior officials the credit requirements of the affected farmers and evolve an appropriate assistance package.
