It's a third-person role-playing game (RPG) where the player is a 'new kid' in the town of South Park and is employed by the characters of the show to embark on various quests. The graphics are akin to that in the show and the quests are influenced by the televised episodes. The gameplay is the same as any other RPGs. One can acquire weapons, armour, potions and special add-on patches to improve their character's attributes. Every object in the game is named from the point of view of a fourth grader leading to hilarious names like 'Sweaty Headband' and 'Noob Hammer'. There are four different classes that a player can choose from - Fighter, Thief, Mage and Jew. Besides the classes, the player can also choose different companions to assist one in the quests. More companions can be unlocked as one progresses. The map is open to exploration barring a few locations that can be accessed only after specific quests have been completed. The game demands about 14 hours of gameplay in order to beat it.
There are also Final Fantasy-esque turn-based battle screens in the game. Only one companion can accompany the player during battle. A radial wheel lists the available attacks - class-based basic melee attacks, special attacks, long-ranged attacks and support items. Basic attacks are used to hit, break and wear down armour and shields, while heavy attacks weaken armoured enemies. For every special attack, the player requires a specific amount of 'Power Points'.
The game is available on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.
