ICT Academy to be inaugurated on Aug 27

The Information Communication Technology (ICT) Academy, a project of the Tamil Nadu government to enhance IT skills of faculty and students, will be inaugurated on August 27.

The academy has been set up under private-public partnership funded by the Centre with Rs 12 crore coming from the Confederation of Indian Industry, Santhosh Babu, managing director of Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu, said. He was speaking at a CII seminar on ICT for small and medium enterprises here.

Following the success of Fostering Technologies in Rural Area (Fostera), the rural BPO network in Krishnagiri, a state-level organisation would be formed around next week to develop BPO units in other rural area. The M- governance project of the state to provide e-governance through mobile, is proposed to be launched in September, he added.

Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi would inaugurate the academy.
