Dell Services, the information technology (IT) services arm of Nasdaq-listed personal computer manufacturer Dell, on Tuesday said former Wipro joint chief executive Suresh Vaswani would lead its applications and business process outsourcing (BPO) organisation as executive vice-president. Vaswani will also assume charge as chairman of Dell India. He will report to Steve Schuckenbrock, president of Dell Services.
Vaswani and Girish Paranjpe resigned as joint CEOs of the country’s third-largest IT services company, Wipro Technologies, in December.
“I am very happy and excited to join Dell and help lead the company’s transformation as we expand our services offerings,” said Suresh Vaswani. “I look forward to taking the application and BPO organisation to the next level, driven by next generation technology and services. Dell has a great presence in India and I look to enhancing its tremendous global delivery model to make Dell a leading technology solutions provider in India and reinforce its position as an employer of choice in the country.”
Dell entered the services business in 2009 by acquiring Perot Systems for $3.9 billion. Since then, Dell Services’ revenues have witnessed a tremendous growth and touched $7.7 billion. The Dell Services Applications and BPO organisation includes more than 15,000 team members globally, including 8,300 Perot Systems' employees in India. As the IT spend in the domestic market has gone up, Dell, along with hardware and services businesses, sees a huge potential in the Indian market.
According to a statement by Dell, Vaswani’s focus will be to build next generation service offerings and grow its process capabilities on a global basis across multiple industry verticals, service offerings and market segments.
In his role as chairman of Dell India, Vaswani will carry the responsibility of further enhancing Dell’s global delivery capabilities and expanding the company’s presence in the Indian IT market. Dell India President Ganesh Lakshminarayanan will work closely with Vaswani to continue to position the company for long-term success and growth.
