Cummins India Ltd has received its CPCB IV+ compliance certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) effective from July 1.

The certification shows that the company can provide its customers with various CPCB IV+ emission norms-compliant gensets.

CPCB IV+ standard is being implemented by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). It is one of the most comprehensive and stringent emission norms for power generation engines till date.

The new CPCB IV+ emission standards will cover all fuel types for engine power output of up to 800 kWh. It is a single standard for both prime and standby usage of gensets.

In comparison to the current CPCB II standards, the new measure will ensure the reduction in particulate matter (PM) and harmful oxides of nitrogen (NOx) concentrations by nearly 90 per cent.

Business Standard reported that 80 per cent of domestic powergen business falls under CPCB IV norms and this had led to some uncertainty regarding the constraints and implementation of the CPCB IV norm. However, brokerage firms were positive that Cummins was ready for CPCB IV norms due to its “continued momentum in the export market and technology-driven product launch”.

Cummins India also reported revenue growth of 29 per cent and its stocks hit a record high of Rs 1,736.75, up five per cent on the BSE. The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) margins also reportedly expanded by 309 bps year-on-year (YoY).
