Godrej Consumer Products Q4 results: Reports surprise loss, revenue rises 5.8%

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. has posted a net loss in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, even as revenue grew in line with analysts' estimates.
 
The maker of Goodknight mosquito repellent and Cinthol soaps reported a net loss of Rs 1,893.21 crore in the quarter-ended March, as compared with a net profit of Rs 452.14 crore a year ago, according to an exchange filing issued on Monday.

SC to consider granting interim bail to Kejriwal on Tuesday

The Supreme Court will consider on Tuesday whether to enlarge Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on interim bail in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections when it hears his petition challenging his arrest in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.
 
Whether Kejriwal, who has been in custody through the Lok Sabha elections so far, is be able to campaign during the remaining phases will depend on the outcome of the proceedings.
 
A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will take up as the first matter the plea of the AAP leader.
 
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 and is currently lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody.
 
On May 3, the top court had said it may consider granting him interim bail in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday that there was no such thing as "China's overcapacity problem", whether viewed from the perspective of comparative advantage or global market demand, according to China's state-run Xinhua news agency.
 
China-EU cooperation, in essence, was complementary and mutually beneficial, Xi told French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a trilateral meeting at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

IMD issues yellow alert from May 7 to 10

The Regional Meteorological Centre issued a yellow alert for a heatwave from May 7 to 10 on Monday and mentioned the possibility of loo following the hot weather conditions in the state. "The average temperature in most areas of Rajasthan is recorded at more than 40 degrees Celsius. The highest 42.2 was recorded in Phalodi. In the next 48 hours, in most parts of Rajasthan, the average temperature will increase by 2-4 degrees," said Radheshyam Sharma, director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre.

Health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza says war death toll at 34,735

The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said Monday that at least 34,735 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory during almost seven months of war between Israel and Hamas. The tally includes at least 52 deaths in the past 24 hours, a ministry statement said, adding that 78,108 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war broke out when Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7.
