18 flights per day at Leh airport to boost tourism, says Ladakh L-G

Flights at Leh airport have increased from eight to 18 per day to boost air connectivity ahead of the peak tourism season, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said on Sunday. He said two more flights are expected to begin operations soon, providing flexibility for visitors to plan their journeys, and invited holiday-makers to experience Ladakh for an "unforgettable" trip. "Ladakh is all set to welcome a larger number of visitors than before. Pleased to announce a major boost to air connectivity with Leh, as the tourist season begins in Ladakh," Saxena said. "With our concerted efforts, the flight operations at Leh Airport have significantly increased from eight flights to 18 flights a day, as on April 2, connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar and Chandigarh. Cabinet clears proposal to declare Madurai airport as international airport

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal to declare Madurai airport as an international airport. Madurai is a prominent city in Tamil Nadu, and Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the decision was taken keeping in view the aspirations of the people of Madurai. Briefing media persons about the Cabinet decisions, the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister said that the policy decision to declare Madurai airport as an international airport will help bring air connectivity from various parts of the world to the temple city, and there is a huge industrial cluster around it. Airlines face check-in issues due to software glitch at major airports

Airlines faced issues in checking in passengers at various airports on Thursday morning due to a software problem that lasted for more than 40 minutes, according to sources. The sources told PTI that IndiGo, Air India Express, SpiceJet and Akasa Air were impacted at Delhi, Mumbai and other airports. The check-in systems were down from around 6.45 am till 7.28 am due to the software outage. The problem was addressed and working of the system have returned to normal, one of the sources said. The sources also said there was not too much disruptions for airlines on account of the software problem. There were no statements from airlines.

GMR Airports Q3FY26 results: Net profit declines 14% to ₹174 crore

GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) on Friday reported a 14 per cent decline in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 173.96 crore in the three months ended December 2025, mainly due to higher expenses. The company, which operates Delhi, Hyderabad and a few other airports, had a profit after tax of Rs 202.10 crore in the year-ago period. According to a regulatory filing, GMR Airports' total income surged to Rs 4,082.77 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year from Rs 2,748.22 crore in the same period a year ago. In the latest December quarter, total expenses of the company rose to Rs 2,293.49 crore. GAL-owned airports handled record 31.9 million passengers in the December quarter, with Delhi airport handling 20.8 million passengers. Navi Mumbai airport to provide free Wi-Fi, digital passenger services

Adani Group's Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL) will deploy a digital-first passenger communication system anchored by free high-speed Wi-Fi when the airport begins commercial operations on December 25. Passengers connecting to the airport's Wi-Fi network will receive real-time updates through the Adani OneApp, which will function as a virtual assistant, guiding travellers across key touchpoints at the terminal, sources said. The Wi-Fi-enabled app will deliver flight status alerts, boarding gate information, schedules and other operational notifications directly to passengers' mobile phones. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on physical information counters and static display boards while providing personalised, timely updates. Hyderabad airport receives three bomb threats for incoming flights

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has received three bomb threats to flights coming from different cities, including two international, sources said. The airport received emails on late Sunday night targeting British Airways' (BA 277) from Heathrow, Lufthansa's (LH 752) from Frankfurt and IndiGo's 6E 7178 from Kannur. Airport sources said all the flights landed safely. The two international flights landed here during the early hours of Monday. "Standard safety protocols were initiated for all three aircraft," sources said. Standard safety protocols include isolation of the aircraft, screening of baggage and passengers, keeping fire engines ready and pressing sniffer dogs into services, among others, sources added. Last week, the RGIA received bomb threat emails for the Dubai-Hyderabad Emirates flight and IndiGo's MadinaHyderabad and Sharjah-Hyderabad flights separately. Check-in systems at various airports faced issues on Wednesday morning due to a system outage, according to a source. The source added that some flights have been delayed due to the issues. "Microsoft Windows reports major service outages globally. IT services/ check in systems at airports are impacted," as per a message for the passengers at the Varanasi airport. According to the message, airlines have implemented manual check in and boarding procedures. At least four airlines -- IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air and Air India Express -- have been affected, it said. There were no immediate comments from Microsoft or from the airlines. "Some domestic airlines are currently experiencing operational challenges, which may lead to delays or schedule challenges. "Our on-ground teams are diligently working with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient passenger experience," DIAL said in a post on X at 7.40 am. Flight from Delhi delayed due to Dhaka airport closure: Air India

Air India's flight from Delhi to Dhaka was delayed on Saturday due to closure of the airport in the Bangladesh capital following a fire incident. On Saturday afternoon, a massive fire broke out at the cargo complex of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, forcing authorities to suspend all flight operations. Air India was scheduled to operate the Delhi-Dhaka flight in the evening. "Due to closure of Dhaka airport for all flight operations, flight AI237 scheduled to operate from Delhi to Dhaka on 18 October has been delayed. "Consequently, the return flight AI238 set to operate from Dhaka to Delhi will also have a delayed departure," the airline said in a statement. While regretting the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline said ground teams at Delhi and Dhaka are offering immediate assistance to them. Apart from Air India, IndiGo also operates flights to Dhaka.
