Bengaluru residents seeking to park vehicles on public roads outside their homes may have to pay an annual residential parking fee of up to Rs 25,000, depending on the vehicle type, under the draft GBA (Parking) Rules, 2026. The draft rules propose an annual residential parking permit fee of Rs 15,000 for hatchbacks, Rs 20,000 for sedans and Rs 25,000 for sports utility vehicles. However, residential parking on roads other than arterial and sub-arterial roads will be permitted only for vehicles with a residential parking permit issued by the respective city corporation. The permit will be issued only to residents of buildings that comply with the minimum parking requirements prescribed under the building bye-laws. This means residents of houses or buildings that do not have adequate on-site parking as prescribed under the bye-laws may not be eligible for a residential parking permit. Two men, including an inter-state accused, were arrested for allegedly printing and circulating fake Rs 500 currency notes, police said on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Arvind (47), a native of Mysuru, and Venkata Subramanian (around 60), a resident of Chennai, they said. Police claimed to have seized 338 counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes, a photocopy machine, a laptop, a car, mobile phones and other incriminating materials, with the total value of the seizure estimated at Rs 3.29 lakh, police said. On July 3, the Kumbalagodu Police received a tip-off that a tenant residing in a BDA apartment within the police station limits was circulating counterfeit currency notes, police said. Realty firm Embassy Developments will invest Rs 1,500 crore to construct a 3 million sq ft office complex in Bengaluru as part of its strategy to generate rental income from commercial assets. The company is mainly into housing segment with presence across Bengaluru, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Delhi-NCR. In an interview with PTI, Embassy Developments Managing Director Aditya Virwani mentioned that the company's focus would largely remain on the growing residential business. However, he said the company would build office assets for rental income. Virwani said the company will develop a large 35-acre office complex in Bengaluru comprising 6 million sq ft area. "We will develop this project is two phases. The construction of first phase covering 3 million sq ft has started," he said.
