A total of 21 flights were cancelled at Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday due to airspace restrictions affecting services to several West Asian destinations, BIIAL said. In a statement, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which manages the airport, said that due to airspace restrictions on 11th March 2026, as many as 11 arrival flights and 10 departure flights were cancelled. The BIAL added that the cancellations primarily affected flights operating on key international sectors including Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dubai and Doha, which witnessed disruptions due to the airspace curbs.
Hotel and restaurant operations in the city are likely to be affected starting March 10, following a sudden and total halt in the supply of commercial gas cylinders, the Bangalore Hotels Association said on Monday. This development comes amid rising energy costs and supply constraints caused by the West Asia conflict. "Since the gas supply has stopped, the hotels will be closed from tomorrow," the association said in a release. Noting that the supply of commercial gas cylinders stopped today, it said, since the hotel industry is an essential service, common people, students, and medical professionals, who rely on the hotels for daily meals, will be affected. "In addition, our hotel industry will also face difficulties until the gas supply returns to normal," it added. The association said oil companies had guaranteed an uninterrupted gas supply for 70 days, making the sudden stoppage a "big blow" to the hotel industry. Chaos prevailed at Kempegowda International Airport here after passengers bound for Nepal have staged a protest against a private airline, alleging gross mismanagement that disrupted their travel plans for two consecutive days. According to passengers, the flight departed Bengaluru for Kathmandu at 10.30 am on Thursday. However, the aircraft returned without landing in Kathmandu under circumstances that were not clearly communicated to travellers, they alleged. The same aircraft reportedly took off again on Friday morning, but once again failed to land in Kathmandu and was diverted to Lucknow. Passengers alleged that they were made to remain seated inside the aircraft for several hours after landing in Lucknow. "We were kept inside the plane for hours without proper information. Seven people were killed in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the outskirts of Hoskote near Bengaluru early on Friday, police said. The accident occurred near M Satyavara village on the HoskoteDabaspete National Highway when an SUV car travelling from Hoskote towards Devanahalli allegedly struck a motorcycle from behind. According to police, the driver of the SUV allegedly lost control after the initial impact and crashed into a canter vehicle. Another car was also drawn into the wreckage, resulting in a severe pile-up. Six occupants of the SUV car and the motorcycle rider died on the spot, police said. The deceased are suspected to be residents of Kothanur in Bengaluru, though their identities are yet to be confirmed. The bodies have been shifted to the Hoskote Government Hospital for post-mortem examination, police said. A case was registered, and investigation is underway, they added.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that a premium train service from Bengaluru to Mumbai will start soon. He said Karnataka has received a record Rs 7,748 crore in this year's railway budget -- nine times the allocation during the Congress-led UPA government, and the total railway investment in the state is Rs 52,950 crore. An FIR has been registered against a former senior employee of an IT firm for allegedly stealing the company's proprietary software source code valued at approximately Rs 87 crore, police said on Tuesday. The accused Ashuthosh Nigam was employed as a Senior Manager Research Scientist from February 1, 2020 with Amadeus software Labs India (P) Ltd company here, they said. According to the FIR, during the course of his employment, he unauthorisedly accessed and ex-filtrated source code with software belonging to the company on October 11, 2025 by transferring the source code along with other confidential data from his personal email account without consent or approvals from the company. Upon confronting him with internal findings, records and reports, Nigam agreed to having ex-filtrated the source code and the same is been video recorded by the company, the FIR stated. Following this, his employment with the company was terminated on December 3, 2025, police said. "The approximate va
