Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday said the Noida International Airport at Jewar would transform the region into a hub for employment, investment and economic growth, asserting that the project would benefit not just Uttar Pradesh but the entire country. Delivering his address in Hindi at the inauguration ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu described the occasion as a matter of pride for the nation and congratulated people on the launch of the "grand and glorious" airport. "This is a moment of great happiness not only for Jewar, Uttar Pradesh or Delhi-NCR, but for the entire country," he said, adding that the national capital had received "another heartbeat" with the development of the airport. PM Modi inaugurates Phase I of Noida International Airport in Jewar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Phase of the Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, on Saturday. PM was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and other dignitaries. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place in view of the prime minister's visit. The first phase of the airport, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 11,200 crore, is envisioned as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro and regional transport systems. According to an official statement, the project includes a multi-modal cargo hub with an initial handling capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable to around 18 lakh metric tonnes. The statement added that the airport's initial passenger handling capacity will be 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), scalable up to 70 million MPPA. The prime minister also inspected the terminal.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the Noida International Airport at Jewar is likely to be inaugurated this month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a press conference here, Adityanath said the airport is ready, and the process for obtaining the aerodrome licence is in its final stages. "I believe that this month, the airport will be inaugurated by the prime minister," he said. Once operational, it will become Uttar Pradesh's fifth international airport. The Noida International Airport is a greenfield project being developed in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The first phase of the project, spread over around 1,300 hectares, was initially scheduled to begin operations in September 2024 and has missed multiple deadlines.

Noida International Airport successfully completes validation flight

The upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar on Monday announced the "successful" completion of its validation flight, a crucial step in the process of acquiring aerodrome licence. The validation flight was conducted by an IndiGo A320 passenger aircraft in the presence of civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The flight verified the airport's approach procedures, confirming the accuracy and functionality of its navigational aids and air traffic control systems, it said, adding, it demonstrates the airport's adherence to the stringent safety and operational standards required for commercial operations. Following the validation flight, NIA will finalise the required documentation for aerodrome certification and submit it to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it said. In October, the airport operator had undertaken an exercise to calibrate its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Indicator (PAPI) system. "

Akasa Air on Friday became the second airline to announce commercial flight operations from the upcoming Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Working to provide touchless journey for customers at Noida airport: CEO

The upcoming Noida International airport will look to provide a touchless and seamless journey for customers in as transparent way as possible, a top executive said on Wednesday. The airport, coming up at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh and also the second airport in the national capital region, is expected to start operations late next year. Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL) CEO Christoph Schnellmann said it is working on defining the journey for customers that is as transparent as possible. It would be "touchless and seamless" as possible, he said. NIAL will be operating the airport. Speaking at the CAPA aviation summit in the national capital, Schnellmann said the operator has also been engaging with airlines and airport stakeholders to understand their plans.
