Czech carmaker Skoda plans to bring more of its global nameplates into the Indian market as it looks to cater to a diverse set of customers, according to a senior company executive. The company, which now sells products in India ranging from over Rs 7 lakh to upwards of Rs 40 lakh, however, has no immediate plans to introduce electric cars in the country. "For the next year, the basic portfolio, which is the locally produced cars, remains the same. However, to excite the market, as we did with Octavia this year, we are also planning to get some more global, iconic cars into India next year," Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta told PTI in an interaction. He, however, did not disclose the names of the models the company is looking to import into the country next year. Skoda currently sells locally-produced models like Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia and imported ones like Octavia and Kodiaq in the Indian market. Czech automaker Skoda Auto is gearing up to ride the 'growth train' in India, developing the country as a 'second pillar' to stand to avoid over-reliance on Europe in future, according to its CEO Klauss Zellmer. The company, which is driving the Volkswagen Group's business in India, is preparing for a "big game" in the battery electric vehicles segment in the country by fully localising the 'CMP21' platform that has been engineered and developed in China, besides looking to bring another small EV, Zellmer told PTI here. Skoda Auto India on Wednesday said it will cut prices across its entire product portfolio by up to Rs 3.3 lakh to pass on the full GST reduction benefits to customers. Effective September 22, the price of Kodiaq SUV will be reduced by up to Rs 3,28,267, while that of compact SUV Kylaq by up to Rs 1,19,295. Similarly, SUV Kushaq will see a price reduction of up to Rs 65,828, while that of sedan Slavia by up to Rs 63,207, the company said in a statement. Skoda Auto India on Tuesday reported sales of 7,422 units in March. The company, which is marking its 25 years of operation in India, said the sales registered in March was the highest-ever monthly sales by the Skoda brand in India. "The 7,422 cars we sold in March 2025 is a testament to this journey taking shape, and is also the result of sustained planning, efforts and a strategy aimed at democratising European technology on Indian roads," Skoda Auto India Brand Director Petr Janeba said.
Skoda Auto India on Tuesday announced a price hike of up to 3 per cent across its range of cars, effective January 1. This adjustment is necessitated by rising input and operational costs, ensuring the company continues to deliver premium vehicles and services to its customers, Skoda Auto India said in a statement. The company is a subsidiary of European carmaker Skoda Auto. The price increase will apply to the company's entire portfolio, including the Kushaq, Slavia, Superb, and Kodiaq. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India on Monday said it is in discussions with a potential partner regarding possible collaboration in India, refuting speculation that it has halted the process of finding a local collaborator after the investigation over alleged customs duty fraud. Czech carmaker Skoda Auto plans to enter the mass market of electric vehicles segment in India, for which it is exploring all options, including partnerships with local companies for economies of scale, company's management board member Martin Jahn said on Wednesday. The company is gearing up to enter the electric vehicles segment in India this year and is currently testing its premium electric SUV Enyaq. "We are exploring all the options. I am not at liberty to give you any details on this because no decision has been made. We are looking at everything we want to bring volume electric car to India," Jahn, who is the member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing Skoda Auto, said here in an interaction. He further said, "How and when we are going to do it, we do not know yet. We are looking at the options that would be the best for India. But we of course want to participate in the growth of the electric (vehicle) market in India." When asked if Skoda Auto is looking fo
