IRB Infrastructure on Monday posted a 9 per cent year-on-year rise in its toll revenue to Rs 682 crore in October 2025. Revenues from the toll collection business stood at Rs 624 crore in the same month last year, IRB said in an exchange filing. Revenue includes toll collection from two of its sponsored InvITs, i.e., IRB InvIT Fund (Public InvIT) and IRB Infrastructure Trust (Private InvIT), IRB Infra said. Of its 22 BOT and ToT assets, IRB MP Expressway in Maharashtra contributed the major share of Rs 150.5 crore to the total revenue collection in October, up from Rs 142.6 crore contribution in October 2024. With Rs 73.8 crore, IRB Golconda Expressway (Hyderabad ORR) was the second largest contributor to the revenues in October 2025, up from 67 crore last year. The government has reduced the toll rates up to 50 per cent for the sections of National Highways that have structures like tunnels, bridges, flyovers or elevated stretches, a move which will lower travelling cost for motorists. User charges at fee plazas on National Highways are collected as per NH Fee Rules, 2008. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made amendment to 2008 rules and notified a new method or formula for calculating toll charges. The trucks from Karnataka are expected to go off the road from midnight on Monday as the truckers affiliated to the Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association (FOKSLOAA) are set to begin their indefinite strike against fuel price hike and harassment at toll plazas. Commuters on national highways and expressways will need to pay more for their road journeys, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges by an average of 4 to 5 per cent on highway sections across the country. The revised toll charges for motorists on national highways across the country have come into effect from Tuesday, a senior highways ministry official told PTI. Cracking down on irregularities in toll collection, state-owned NHAI has barred 14 toll collection agencies for irregular activities, following a probe after Uttar Pradesh STF unearthed a fraud, according to an official statement. NHAI has served show-cause notices to defaulting agencies. Based on the FIR, 13 user fee-collecting agencies have also been debarred for a period of two years. Besides, 12.55 lakh refunds were made in 2024 for faulty toll collections on National Highways, Parliament was informed on Thursday. IRB Infrastructure on Monday posted a 20 per cent year-on-year rise in toll revenue to Rs 559.7 crore in January. Revenues from the toll collection business stood at Rs 466.8 crore in the same month last year, IRB said in an exchange filing. Of its 17 tolls, the IRB MP Expressway in Maharashtra contributed the major share of Rs 155.2 crore to the total revenue collection in January, followed by IRB Ahmedabad-Vadodara Super Express Tollway, which contributed Rs 69.9 crore, it said.
