Debate democracy in party, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called for a debate on democracy within political parties in the country. Though he did not name any outfit or person, the comment — articulated during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) Diwali celebrations — comes at a time when opposition Congress is poised for a leadership change. Household savings at two-decade low
The household savings rate continues to decline and has touched a two-decade low in 2016-17. Household savings as a proportion of the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices declined to 18.5 per cent in 2016-17, the lowest rate since 1997-98. Read here
