To check the rising menace of drug abuse in the state, the Punjab government has constituted a state-level drug advisory committee to suggest ways and means to curb it. Disclosing this here on Friday, an official spokesperson of the state government said this committee of nine members would be headed by Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, whereas, state drug controller has been inducted in the committee as member secretary.
The spokesperson added the term of this committee would be two years. It would meet at least once in three months. This committee would advise state drug advisory committee regarding sales and manufacturing of drugs.
The other members of the committee included all the assistant drug controllers; state government's analyst; Punjab drug testing laboratory at Chandigarh; Surjit Singh Mehta, President Drug producer Chemist; Jagdip Singh, President Drug Manufacturing Association Mohali; Pawan Jain, former President Kharar Chemist Association and Amit Jain, President C & F Association, Jirakpur (Mohali).
