The Gujarat government on Monday appointed 1985-batch IAS officer G C Murmu as principal secretary to the new Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel.
Another 2001-batch IAS officer Vijay Nehra has also been appointed as the secretary in the chief minister's office. Murmu is a close confident of Patel predecessor and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has served for over a decade in the chief minister's office during Modi regime.
Nehra has been with the CMO since past few years. He was the youngest bureaucrat to be appointed in Modi's CMO. Nehra has also served as District Collector of Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
