Seemandhra govt staff to go on strike from Feb 6

Scene has shifted to Delhi after state legislative assembly concluded debate on Bill on Jan 30

The  Andhra Pradesh Non Gazetted Officers (NGOs) Association, which represents the government staff  from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, on Monday decided to launch a strike once again from Thursday in protest against the AP Reorganisation Bill.

The association has chalked out an agitation programme, including strike, bandh and rallies at Delhi coinciding with the Parliament session and also timed it with the dates of possible introduction of the state bifurcation Bill in the House.

The scene has shifted to Delhi after the state legislative Assembly concluded the debate on the Bill on January 30. The state government sent all the documents containing the proceedings of the debate, views and suggestions of the members to Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

Leaders from the Seemandhra region and the AP NGO Association have already urged the President of India not to send the Bill to Parliament while chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy requested the Centre to put the Bill on the back burner till the completion of the ensuing general elections.

MPs from Seemandhra also threatened to move a motion for no-confidence against the government if it tried to pass the bifurcation Bill.
