The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) 2013 has decided to come up with a high-level advisory committee to look into the technological and financial aspects of clean energy implementation in its member countries.
In a closed-door meeting today, the ministers have decided to make arrangements to get the clean energy aspects of various countries get connected.
The team of energy ministers from 23 nations also decided to organise the next CEM at Seol in South Korea in 2014, while Mexico will host CEM 5.
At the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change conference of parties in Copenhagen in December 2009, US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu had come out with the idea of organising Clean Energy Ministerial to bring together ministers with responsibility for clean energy technologies from the world’s major economies and ministers from a select number of smaller countries that are leading in various areas of clean energy.
