Bengaluru awaits Karnataka poll outcome for its future infra growth

After the Karnataka election results, the big question now is about the future infrastructure growth of Bengaluru. Irrespective of whichever party is in power, experts feel it will have to put the city at the centre of its developmental agenda.  

"Both the BJP and the Congress have contributed towards building the city's infrastructure. And we have no reasons to believe that if JD(S) comes to power, it will be any different. We have met Kumarswamy and he assured us that the infrastructure needs of the city will be taken care of if the JD(S) comes to power," says Mohandas Pai, former Infosys board member and chairman of Manipal Global Education.

The IT capital of the country contributes more than 60 per cent of Karnataka's gross state domestic product, apart from contributing a similar amount in tax revenue to the state exchequer. 

"The urbanisation ratio of Karnataka is 31 per cent. With that kind of ratio, Bengaluru cannot be ignored by any government," adds Harish Bijoor, brand expert and founder of Harish Bijoor Consultants.
