IS spokesman al-Adnani killed in US air strike: Pentagon

Senior Islamic State leader and spokesman Abu Mohamed al-Adnani in northern Syria has been killed

The US military has confirmed that an air strike targeting senior Islamic State leader and spokesman Abu Mohamed al-Adnani in northern Syria last month was successful, an official has said.

"We can confirm that al-Adnani is dead," a defence official told AFP yesterday, speaking on condition of anonymity ahead of an official announcement.
