Copper rises 0.5% on spot demand

Mine-supply concerns overseas influenced copper futures here

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper prices rose by 0.54% to Rs 411.90 per kg in futures trade today on a firm global trend and increased domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the June contract traded higher by Rs 2.20, or 0.54%, to Rs 411.90 per kg in 1,234 lots.

The August contract edged up by Rs 2.15, or 0.52%, to Rs 416.50 per kg in 62 lots.

Market analysts said besides increased demand from consuming industries, a firming trend overseas on mine-supply concerns influenced copper prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months climbed 0.3% to trade at two-week high of $7,393.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
