Markets opened marginally higher on Thursday on bargain hunting and short covering at lower levels post the sharp losses in the past two trading sessions.
The 30-share Sensex was up 173 points at 19,350 and the 50-share Nifty was up 50 points at 5,821.
US markets rebounded in late trades on Tuesday, ending finally higher by half a per cent each. Dow JOnes added 0.3% at 14,989.
Following the gains in Wall Street, Asian markets have also opened positive. The Nikkei was marginally down while the Hang Seng, Shanghai Composite and Straits Times were up 0.9-1.8% each.
