The Nifty is up 43 points at 3,939.
Wipro has zoomed 5.8% to Rs 440, and Satyam has soared 5% to Rs 454.
Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 4.5% to Rs 460. SBI and Infosys have surged nearly 3% each to Rs 1,054 and Rs 1,759, respectively.
Hindalco, BHEL and Reliance Communications have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 138, Rs 1,390 and Rs 406, respectively.
HDFC Bank has advanced over 2% to Rs 988. Cipla and Ranbaxy are up 1.5% each at Rs 210 and Rs 515, respectively.
Tata Motors has slipped over 3% to Rs 396. ACC has shed 2.7% at Rs 492.
Jaiprakash Associates and ITC have dropped over 2% each to Rs 132 and Rs 180, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,533 stocks traded so far, 1,861 have advanced and 623 have declined.
