Sensex steady; Tata Steel up 3%, Satyam down 3%

The Sensex is now up 50 points at 14,092.

Tata Steel has surged 2.8% to Rs 493. ITC has rallied 2.3% to Rs 196.

DLF has moved up 1.6% to Rs 434, ans Sterlite has added 1.4% to Rs 474.

HDFC, ACC and Relaince have advanced over 1% each to Rs 2,337, Rs 612 and Rs 2,075, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever are also up 1% each at Rs 808 and Rs 248, respectively.

Satyam has plunged 2.7% to Rs 360. ONGC has shed 1.8% at Rs 1,053.

Ranbaxy has slipped 1.6% to Rs 351, and Maruti is down over 1% at Rs 734.

 

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,329 stocks traded so far, 1,361 have advanced, 905 have declined and 63 are unchanged.
