Congress leader Anand Sharma on Friday said that terrorism is a worldwide threat and added that defeating it is also in the interest of Pakistan.
Sharma made his remarks after the Islamabad High Court declared Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi's detention as 'illegal' and ordered his release.
"Our investigators have shared all the evidence collected against Lakhvi. There is enough evidence on record for Pakistan to convict Lakhvi," Sharma told the media here.
"Terrorism has to be confronted and defeated in all its forms. This is in the interest of Pakistan as well: this should be made clear to them," he added.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju criticized the Islamabad High Court's decision and said that there should be no discrimination in terms of showing the character of terrorists.
Rijiju also blamed the Pakistani agencies for not presenting the 'incriminating evidences' against Lakhvi properly in the court
Lakhvi is accused of planning, financing and executing the Mumbai attacks in 2008.
