President Barack Obama has said the privacy-intrusion capabilities of the National Security Agency (NSA) are scary to citizens and it should build stronger safeguards for its surveillance programme.

In an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, Obama said NSA will have to increase the safety checks in their intelligence programme as the technology was getting advanced, Politico reports.

He added that the U.S. was not the only nation with such capabilities and other nations also have advanced technologies.

Obama has expressed the need for additional reforms to preserve the core mission of the NSA of protecting the country from any kind of security threat, but also assure Americans of keeping their privacy protected.
