Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Monday said if the People's Democratic Party (PDP) truly wanted to bring back Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's mortal remains then they would have included it in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the alliance government.
"If @jkpdp truly believed they wanted to work to bring back Guru's remains they would have fought to include it in the CMP, which they didn't," Omar tweeted.
"So @jkpdp brought out its big guns, cynically used #AfzalGuru by giving Eng Rashid a signed statement and still LOST the election. #Hahahahaha," he added.
Earlier in the day, a group of PDP MLAs demanded that the mortal remains of Afzal Guru be handed over to his family.
"PDP maintained that late Afzal Guru's hanging was travesty of justice and constitutional process not followed," said the alleged PDP note.
The note has the endorsement of nine PDP leaders.
Afzal Guru was convicted in the 2003 Parliament attack case and was hanged secretly in Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 9 last year.
The latest development takes place a day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed stirred a controversy with his remark crediting Pakistan and the Hurriyat for peaceful assembly elections in the state.
