Australia cricket team is inching closer to the top spot in world ODI rankings, but vice-captain Brad Haddin has said that it is one step at a time for the moment.

Leading their three-match ODI series against Pakistan one-nil, Australia would take enormous confidence into Friday's second game in Dubai. In contrast, Pakistan's morale is very low and captain Misbah-ul-Haq has admitted that his side's confidence is shaky.

Haddin said that if they win the second ODI it would definitely be on the radar to get back to number one, but he added that their most important thing is to make sure they front up tomorrow and continue to get better, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Haddin said that if they are lucky enough to get the result tomorrow then 100 per cent they would like to get back to number one.

A three-nil sweep by Australia, coupled with India winning fewer than four games of their five-game series against West Indies, would allow Australia to regain top spot.

Haddin said that he was unaware of the bleak picture Misbah had painted of the host side's glum spirits following Pakistan's 93-run loss in the opening game in Sharjah on Tuesday. He said that he did not know that the Pakistan skipper said that, adding that that is good.
