Young Indians (Yi), an integral part of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized the 10th Yi National Summit on the theme 'India- The Future is Now,' in New Delhi.
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Secretary Rajeev Gupta, who inaugurated the summit, delivered the keynote address during the inaugural session.
He said that the theme of the summit "Future is Now' suggests the time to act and has a rigorous texture. He further said other than numerous contributions Yi has actively contributed towards supplying valuable insights to National Youth Policy.
CII President S Gopalakrishnan in his special address, pointed out that 10th Yi National Summit is a milestone, and has gradually emerged as a springboard for ideal thoughts, insights.
In the light of arisen confidence in youth, he expressed that the theme of this summit outlines the achievement, ambitious and aggressive aspects to the youth living in present times.
Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, welcomed Gupta and congratulated Yi on reaching impeccable success.
He also revealed that Yi mentored by CII is structurally independent but collaborative in functioning. While congratulating Yi Chairman Srikant Suryanarayan for leading Yi successfully in the previous work, he observed that Yi provides significant inputs when CII approaches young industrialists.
Suryanarayan congratulated the host chapters who exhibited enormous success in national events and activities. During the session, Yi Annual Reports 2013- 14 was released by Gopalakrishnan, , Gupta and other dignitaries present on the platform.
DNV Kumara Guru, National Vice Chairman, Yi, earlier set the context by highlighting the theme of the 10th Yi National Summit. He articulated that theme invokes the idea of aligning people to execution of entrepreneurial ideas. It focuses on what one should be doing today on the basis of lessons learnt from the past.
The first session began by flapping the sails of the inspirational summit. Lieutenant Commander of Navy Abhilash Tomy described to the audience how he began his journey from Mumbai crossing from West to East, the Indian, Pacific,, Southern and Atlantic Oceans, thereby covering 23,100 nautical miles, rounding Australia, South America, South America and Africa.
His address filled with anecdotes, wit, inspiration amplified the message of motivation to the audience. With a humble tone he expressed how President of India received him, after completing 151 day lonely adventure in the sea.
Following his speech, Sanjay Kumar, Director, Centre for Studies of Developing Societies made a presentation on the current state of young voters. According to a study conducted by him, interest in politics amongst the Indian youth is on rise. Youth are increasingly become progressive.
C Balagopal, Ex IAS Officer, Entrepreneur and Author, shed light on four key areas- identity, governance, migration. In his own words he exhibited how the problem of migration effect most parts of India, including Kerala and North East regions. According to him, migration related issues in North East are more significant than migration and conflict issues in Pakistan and South East Asia.
The address from Sangita Menon Malhan, Author empowered many present in the audience. She summed up three major issues prevalent in India which is, education, women empowerment and paucity of resources. While conveying best wishes to Yi she conveyed that it is the right of every Indian to think about the future of India.
The summit also included the presence of Kiran Karnik, Chairman, Oxfam India and eminent Indian filmmaker Sudhir Mishra. Having acquired an illustrious career in many prominent sectors, he spoke on 'Re-positioning and Re- imaging India,' thereby unfolding the future of youth. Afterwards, he shared his thoughts on films projecting an effective message to the youth.
This summit was well attended by Yi members across 31 cities across country.
