China Market gains as trade tensions ease

China share market closed session higher on Monday, 21 May 2018, as news of easing US-China trade tensions underpinned risk appetite buying. A trade war between the United States and China had been put "on hold" after the pair agreed to drop their tariff threats while they worked on a wider trade agreement. The blue-chip CSI300 index ended up 0.5% at 3,921.24 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.6% higher at 3,213.84 points. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 1165 to 182 and 33 ended unchanged. The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.51.
