Man held for killing wife

IANS  |  New Delhi

A man was arrested here on Tuesday on charge of shooting dead his wife who he felt was cheating on him, police said.

Balram shot dead Veena with a country-made pistol while the couple was alone in their house in R.K. Puram on Monday night. The two lived with their son and daughter-in-law.

Police were told about the crime on Tuesday morning by the couple's daughter Krishna. The man was arrested from a hideout in Kotla Mubarakpur, also in south Delhi.

Krishna told the police that her parents did not have cordial relations and Balram used to beat Veena as he suspected her character, Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said.

Krishna said her brother and sister-in-law were away to attend a social function when the crime was committed.

When she contacted her father during this period, Balram told her that her mother had gone out. However, when she contacted her brother on phone, he told her their mother was found dead with bullet injuries while their father was missing.
