A 70-year-old woman died and her grand-daughter received serious injuries after a speeding car hit them before ramming into four other vehicles here Saturday, police said.
The incident took place around 10 a.m. in New Usmanpur area of east Delhi.
The deceased Bhura Devi was with her grand-daughter Meenakshi on a scooty when the speeding car hit them.
"Both the victims were rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital where Bhura Devi was declared dead while Meenakshi is recuperating from her injuries," said a police official.
The errant driver fled from the spot after leaving his car, which has been impounded.
A case has been registered against the unidentified driver who is absconding.
