Heir apparent

All doubts about who would succeed Mamata Banerjee in the Trinamool Congress have been put to rest by Abhishek Banerjee, her nephew. His mass base has increased since he met with a car accident earlier this month, so much so that a makeshift camp has been set up outside Belle Vue Clinic on U N Brahmachari Street in Kolkata to disseminate information. Placards, flex posters saying, “Get Well Soon” are pasted and strewn alongside the clinic for about a kilometre. All this is likely to continue for a while at least as the heir apparent has recently undergone surgery.
