A CEO says some smaller neighbouring countries refrain from buying insurance products before auspicious occasions

Insurance advertising has traditionally worked on invoking fear — fear of accident, old age and death. But in some countries, people regard insurance products as a bad omen. On the sidelines of an insurance industry conference in Mumbai, a chief executive officer said that some smaller neighbouring countries refrained from buying insurance products before auspicious occasions such as weddings in the belief that the move would bring ill-health or death.
