This refers to the report "PM to keep tabs on infrastructure projects"(July 27). Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the Planning Commission could play a key role in identifying roadblocks and improving infrastructure projects across India, especially in the power sector, which gets coal directly from Coal India (CIL). Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Dhanbad, - which comes under CIL - plays an active role in providing coal to the power sector. Private contracting companies have started projects in the adjoining areas of Dhanbad, Jharkhand by deploying the required resources and materials.
However , these companies start work with the belief that the bottlenecks will be eliminated in due time. But this results in huge irreversible capital cost for the companies. Because of some negative stakeholders, these projects are not allowed to be completed. Thus, it seems it will be difficult to manage the nation's rising power requirement.
